The Mental Game Of Leadership

Do top level, highly effective executives think differently than lower level, less experienced executives? Do top-notch leaders have different thought processes than those who are less accomplished? I think the answer is yes to both these questions.

Let's examine some of these differences by seeing what peak-performing executives think about at the end of the business day. They ask themselves these critical questions.

1. What strategic milestones were accomplished today?

2. What key, leveraged tasks were accomplished?

3. What processes and systems were improved and created anew today?

4. What things did I learn about myself today?

5. What could have been done better, faster and more smoothly today?

6. What was my EQ score today? (Emotional Quotient of Emotional Intelligence).

7. How well did I communicate today and what could be improved?

8. What challenges, problems and mistakes did I encounter today, and how did I handle them?

9. How well did I manage my mental game today and how would I improve it for tomorrow?

10. How well did I manage time and energy resources today and how would I improve them for tomorrow?

How many of these questions do you ask of yourself daily? Can you set aside quality time each day to reflect on these valuable questions?

More bonus questions. Where do you want to be and how do you envision yourself at the end of your career? What do you want to have accomplished? What will you regret not having done? What can you do starting today that will place you on your ideal path to accomplishment and fulfillment?
