Take This Interview Skills Assessment

Discover Your Strengths And Weaknesses

Do you have a situation coming up where you need to face the media microphones and cameras? Maybe you need to pass an important school test or licensing exam, and a personal interview or oral section is required. Perhaps you are job hunting and absolutely need the best possible interview skill set for those stressful situations. Whatever the context with an interview, you are giving a performance, and you have to be at your best.

This assessment tool will quickly provide you with the big picture in your interview skills. It will help you begin to identify your strong points, reveal your needed development areas and provide a focus for any coaching session. It will also serve as a launching point for understanding how the interview coaching process will unfold. This assessment is very simple and easy to complete, and should take you around 5 minutes.

If you've hired me as your interview coach, please fill out this form and press the Submit button at the end of the assessment to email this back to me before our first coaching session. You may also use this form for your self-analysis, to begin working on your interview skills.

Here's how to complete the following 65-item Interview Skills Assessment. Answer this based on your specific situation, whether it is media, school or job interviewing, or a combination.

1. Review this list of interview topics and select the number 1 next to the items that seem MOST important and URGENT to you to be WORKED ON FIRST.

2. Select the number 2 next to those that seem NEXT most important to work on.

3. Select the number 3 next to those that seem to be in the THIRD TIER of importance.

4. Leave a blank space next to those which DON'T seem to be important now, or at all, or which DO NOT APPLY to you. Answer this based on your specific situation, whether it is media, school or job interviewing.

5. Select the QUESTION MARK (?) next to those with which you are unfamiliar and would like clarification.

6. If there are any areas or concerns you would like to address NOT LISTED here, please enter them in the Questions or Comments section at the end of this form.

7. Please be sure to print this page after you have entered your responses and BEFORE you click the Submit button, so you'll have a record of your responses. I have found that repeated review of this assessment is quite helpful in allowing you to continue to see new interview skills vistas.

Here we go with the assessment.
